Having never stayed in a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express before we didn’t know what to expect. But we were very happy with our stay at the Holiday Inn Express St Albans and I would most definitely stay in another Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express hotel in the future. We were very impressed.
Our bedroom was lovely. It was modern and fresh with really nice decor. We had two beds, one double and one double sofa pull our bed (this was for 2 adults and 2 children) and they were really comfy. Even the sofa pull out. We all had a comfortable night and a great sleep. The decor was really clean and modern and we had plenty of amenities.
We had tea and coffee making facilities, (although we only had 2 cups in the room and there were four of us staying so an extra two cups would have been handy) TV, a hairdryer, safe and something that surprised me was an iron and ironing board! Something I did like was the plug sockets beside the beds, I like to be able to charge my phone up overnight and it’s handy having it so close by rather than it being over the other side of the room.
I think the best part of the room was the bathroom! As far as hotel bathrooms go it was amazing! It was lovely, I loved the decor. We had a huge walk-in shower. Honestly, it’s a bathroom I’d write like to have myself at home. The complementary shower wash was a lovely quality too.
We only ate breakfast whilst we stayed in the Holiday Inn Express. There was plenty of choice. There were cereals, pasteries, crossants, sauces/spreads, tea, coffee, fruit juices and a hot breakfast. I liekd the idea of the ‘grab & go if you were in a rush’ you could grab yourself a roll, add some bacon and you had yourself a bacon butty for the road!
I have to say we found both the evening and day time staff very helpful and accommodating. We arrived quite late in the evening (after 10 pm) and we were told if we wanted to use the tea/coffee facilities in the restaurant we could do, or we could use the hot water to make hot chocolate, even though the restaurant was closed at this time.
Once we were in our room and al settled into bed we heard some workmen outside our bedroom on the main road begin a nightshift of road repairs which involved a lot of noisy machinery. After half an hour we called don to reception to ask how likely the noise would be going on for to be told it wasn’t an issue to change our room to a new one on the other side of the building, to which we gladly accepted. It was no bother for them to set up the new room for us and switch us over. We found the staff on check out the next morning lovely and friendly as well.
We had a such a lovely stay here and like I said we would definitely choose to stay in a Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express again in the future.
